| Is Operation Blessing a registered charitable organization in China? | Back to top |
Operation Blessing International is a recognized 501(c)3 non-profit humanitarian organization in the U.S. In China, Operation Blessing is legally registered for conducting charitable activities. [Operation Blessing China currently operates in China under the CBN Beijing Representative Office which was registered in China in 1999. At the time of registration, there was no formal process for non-profit organizations to register in China and charity organizations each opted an operational structure that functioned best for them in the PRC. Operation Blessing chose to register as a business representative office and subsequently secured written tax-free status from the State and Local tax authorities in China. New regulations affecting non-profit organizations that provide social welfare in China have been issued in recent years and more revisions are expected. Operation Blessing China works to fully comply with Chinese regulations and when the authorities begin processing applications for this status, Operation Blessing China will pursue this registration as well. Currently in China, we have been advised that no international organization has been registered under the 2004 Civil Affairs Regulations for Foundation Registration]. |

| How much of a sponsorship goes directly to the child or those assisted? | Back to top |
Our only child sponsorship program at this time is the Adopt-a-Student Program. For an annual donation of 400 RMB (approximately $50 USD), a child is assisted with various educational fees and expenses enabling that child to attend elementary or middle school. 80 RMB ($10) is used for program-related expenses such as volunteer or staff travel expenses, photos of the child, and communication with the donor. Educational costs vary greatly by geographic region such that if fees are especially low, OB will determine other ways to assist the child including food subsidies, book fees, or perhaps a special program for the children at that school. Operation Blessing International organizationally is proud to have 99.2% of its overall income go directly to humanitarian programs with just 0.8% going towards administration or fundraising expenses. |
